The Real Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin, the maverick, the Washington outsider, the 'I've got more experience in my 20 months then you'll ever have,' may have dazzled them in St. Paul but if anyone would bother to take a close look (hell any look would do) at who she is a what she has done, it should be painfully obvious that this woman is obviously nothing more than a PR stunt.

According to a resident of Wasilla, Alaska Sarah Palin is the kind of mayor you just don't want. When she was mayor the population of the town was about 5,000. She had to turn over the running of the office to an administrator she was pressured to hire after she had gotten herself in trouble for precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign.

During her 6 years as mayor she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. At the same time she increased taxes by 38%!

She lowered taxes on property and increased taxes on things like food! Those who benefited from the tax cuts were corporate property owers, I'll give you one guess who suffered from her increase?

Much like the Republicans in Washington, when she entered office, Wasilla had a debt of ZERO and when she left, the little town with a $22 million debt!

What did she spend this money on? Was it for the people, did it help the infrastructure? No, it was unwisely spent on projects that were unneeded. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn't even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later--to the delight of the lawyers involved! She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.

When the local librarian refused to consider removing books Sarah found inappropriate, she moved to have her fired. Town folk rallied around the librarian and Sarah backed-off.

We all are aware of how loyal "her" people are but what is the reason for that? Is it because she is such outstanding leader? No, the real reason is because she fires anyone she doesn't know and hires her own entourage. She hires or elevates new, inexperienced, obscure people, creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally grateful and fiercely loyal--loyal to the point of abusing their power to further her personal agenda.

They say she is called "Sarah Barracuda" because of her intense, bulldog approach to basketball but according to one Wasilla resident they can her that because of her unbridled ambition and predatory ruthlessness.

C'mon GOP, tell us the truth about the wunderkin you have thrust upon us!

Is Palin good for the Jews?

Well the short answer is a resounding NO! According to Ben Smith at POLITICO, Palin's Church, Wasilla Bible Church, recently welcomed David Brickner, the executive director of Jews for Jesus. His sermon stressed several distressing points including his belief that terrorist attacks on Israelis are God's "judgment of unbelief" of Jews who haven't embraced Christianity.

He is quoted as saying "Judgment is very real and we see it played out on the pages of the newspapers and on the television. It's very real. When [Brickner's son] was in Jerusalem he was there to witness some of that judgment, some of that conflict, when a Palestinian from East Jerusalem took a bulldozer and went plowing through a score of cars, killing numbers of people. Judgment — you can't miss it."

Sarah was in attendance for the sermon. Although we don't know whether she shares Brickner's beliefs, she certainly hasn't done or said anything that shows she disagrees with them either.

Heroes is back!

Off to bed but just heard Heroes premiers Sept 22!!!!!!!! I was afraid it wasn't coming back until January. Something to look forward to this fall, the rest of the season looks poor!

Mother of the Year??

Where are the family values I hear espoused by the Grand Old Party? Where are Sarah Palin's family values? Andrea Hopkins who writes for Reuters asks the question we are all wondering:

"Should a 44-year-old mother of five, including a newborn with special needs and a pregnant teenager, take on a job that will keep her away from her home for much of the next two months to eight years?"

Her lack of qualifications for Vice President aside I have to question her qualifications as a mother? Where was abstinance? This is the same woman who wants to tell the rest of the country how to handle the sex education of their children yet failed miserably with her own daughter. The GOP and the rest of the neo-cons are rallying around Bristols CHOICE to keep the baby, does this mean they acknowledge that there is a choice? Why would they be making such a big deal about this 17 year old doing the only thing she could do, keep the baby. The bottom line is that the daughter is a fornicator according to those who sing her praises. According to the Bible, they stone fornicators don't they? I hope the right wingers keep by their hypocritical ways because I really don't think the Republican party could handle that scandal.

So John McCain picks (or did he really choose her or was she picked for him by the real powers of the campaign) Sara Palin to be his Vice President. John McCain turned 72 recently and if elected will be the oldest inaugurated president. So with one foot in the grave his picks a running mate who has to boost her political experience by counting her stint as milk money monitor in the 5th grade!! Who is this Sara Palin who the Republicans are putting a heartbeat away from running the greatest nation in the world? Here is some information on Sara from the Alaska MoveOn.org

• She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1
  
• Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2
  
• She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3
  
• Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4
  
• She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5
  
• She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6
  
• How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7

Wow! Could the Republicans not find ANYONE else? Is this the best the Republicans can offer the US?

Palin?

Well John McCain picked Sara Palin for his running mate. Although I think having a woman running mate is fine (the Dems did it years ago) it is obvious that McCain thinks that any old set of ovarys will do. There were so many other choices for him if he wanted a to make a statement by having a female running mate. Sara Palin is such an unbelievable choice and I am insulted that John McCain thinks that I am going to vote for his ticket because he has teamed up with a woman. She has no national experience and being govenor of Alaska is barely State government experience. I heard that she has some other political experience but I really don't think milk money monitor in 5th grade is going to cut it. She is a joke and John McCain is making a joke out of the women's vote by choosing her. I can't see "Old and Inexperienced" just isn't a great ticket slogan!
